About the American Friends
Like the many other American Friends organizations worldwide, the American Friends of the Oxford Food Symposium is a US-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It was established to allow the OFS to receive tax-deductible donations from US-based donors.
These donations, plus an endowment fund that generates revenue, provide vital financial support for the Oxford Food Symposium’s programs and activities.
In 2025, donations totaling $15,100, a Julia Child Foundation grant of $7,500, and endowment revenue of over $4,000 provided over $25,000 to to support student scholarships, Young Chef grants, and special needs at the Symposium.
For the 2026 Symposium, the American Friends funded travel and accommodation expenses for three Young Chefs. We awarded 19 student grants (which cover 50% of applicants’ registration fees), met three financial aid requests, and provided support for the evening panel discussions.
